Government Information: More Important Than Ever
In a time of uncertainty, as we struggle to make sense of our world at war, the librarian's role in maintaining access to, and facilitating discovery of, government resources is more important than ever.
To that end, this year's presentations include:Thursday
- Jane E. Kirtley, Director of the Silha Center for the Study of Media Ethics and Law in the School of Journalism at the University of Minnesota, who will talk about the Freedom of Information Act.
- Les Greenberg, from the Institute for Federal Printing & Electronic Publishing in Washington, D.C., who will speak on Data Mining with Adobe Acrobat.
- Vernon Leighton, Government Documents Librarian at Winona State University, who will discus his sabbatical year at Princeton University.
- Reports from colleagues who attended the April Depository Council Meeting in Reno.
- Amy West, Electronic Government Publications Librarian at the University of Minnesota, who will instruct us in the use of Excel for Census Information.
- Kirsten Clark, Government Documents Librarian at St. John's University/College of St. Benedict, who will bring us up to date on our Minnesota State Plan and our newly elected Executive Committee of the Minnesota Association of Federal Depository Libraries.

The Forum will be held at the James W. Miller Learning Resources Center on the campus of St. Cloud State University. Parking permits will be made available to those who request them on the registration form, and can be claimed at the University Public Safety office.
